Amethyst Sunrise captures that hour. A snow-capped peak, rendered entirely by hand in oil, rises against a pale amber sky — its ridges built up in thick, luminous impasto that catches the light like ice catching fire. Below, the sea stretches forward in waves of the most extraordinary colour: lavender and violet and soft mauve, each one lit from within by a ribbon of molten gold that runs from the horizon all the way to the shore.

It is a landscape that should not exist — mountain and sea, purple and gold, stillness and movement — and yet standing before it, it feels like the truest place you have ever been.
